INTRODUCTION – Namur a capital city
Situated in the heart of Europe, at 60 km from Brussels, at the confluence of the Sambre and the Meuse, Namur has been the capital of the Walloon Region since 1986. Seat of the Walloon Parliament and Government, as well as ministerial cabinets and the regional administration, Namur has developed around an exceptional historic heritage, in particular its citadel, while keeping its rural nature.
The citadel of Namur was at first a center of command of an important county in the Middle Ages. After different sieges between the 15th and 19th century, it has been transformed in a big park in 1891. Nowadays, tourists are storming the place, witness of 2000 years of history. Guided tours and visit of the underground passages built to defend one biggest citadel in Europe are some of the activities offered.

THE VISIT
On November 3, 2011, JCI Namur invites you to an unforgettable visit of the city and its cultural aspects. Your day will start with a visit of the historic center of Namur, during which you will get the opportunity to do some shopping. In the afternoon, you will discover the well-known Guy Delforge perfumery and the underground passages of the citadel. The visits are organized in French and in English.

PROGRAM

• 9h00 : departure from Brussels
• 10h30 : visit of historical center of Namur (guided tour + free time for shopping)
• 12h30 : cocktail offered by the the city of Namur in “château des Comtes”
• 14h00 : visit of Guy Delforge perfumery
• 15h30 : visit of underground passages of the citadel
• 17h00 : Farewell drink
• 18h00 : departure for Brussels (estimated arrival time : 19h30)
